In my paintings, I address the idea of reminiscence derived from ordinary scene through abstract re-creation. By recollecting natural environments by the means of abstraction, repetition and in the form of a landscape, my desires are re-created into a subjective scenery including the ‘Reminiscent Fragment’. The fragments consist of the botanical memory from the past time and space. I portray ‘the mental scenery’ to depict the moment of contemplation. I intend to visualize such scenery, as well as the desired landscape with an abstract fragment of the flow of water and a hint of nature symbolizing the present. My works capture the moment of meditation in daily life to depict this mental scenery.
I attempt to re-create the multiple states in between an ordinary scene and meditation, and also the sentimental reminiscence by reconstructing an apparent figure into an abstract and poetic one. With my work representing the relationship between meditation and physical space, I would like the viewers to share the moment and evoke personal recollections.
