Bridges all over the world not only connect people physically, but also unroll ahead of us the unlimited possibility of change. The advent of the Internet has made it possible to communicate real-time with those on the opposite side of the planet, transcending the physical distance. However, what first connected humanity to the new world is an architectural structure called the ‘bridge’. The ‘bridge’ in my work is a valuable architecture that has triggered a tremendous development of cities, and it also serves as an inspiration for a better world. I have realistically depicted the fundamental beauty of man-made bridges, but within a re-created world that transcends reality and links different times and spaces. At first sight, the scene in the canvas may seem like a photographed landscape due to its vivid and hyper-realistic portrayal. Soon, an aerial warmth will smoothly envelop the rough texture of pillars, expanding the scene into an imaginary space. Standing before the huge, magnificent bridge, one will be able to travel to a moment in ancient times. Then, when the dense and smooth texture is perceived and a warm atmosphere pervades, one will be brought back to the present. Finally, the sensation of unfamiliarity will guide one to the future. Through the bridges built on the canvas, the viewers will be able to make connections with the world, wishing for a better future.
