The memories we recall are never complete. They become distorted according to the circumstance and interest at the moment of recollection. It is impossible to return to the exact moment in the past, as the subsequent events are added to our memory. Looking back on something is in fact an act of reconstruction, and everything that follows the event affects the reconstruction. In the present day, the recollection of memory is even more fragmented and disintegrated with the diffusion of digital images. My paintings and murals incorporate some of the well-known digital image processing techniques such as layering and collaging for the composition of refracted memories. My work consists of transient fragments of images. I first record my daily life as photographs, and then synthesize all the feelings at the moment of capture and the emotions that shift with various personal experiences or situations. The ordinary moments perceived through diverse media are presented in the way images are reflected on a fragmented mirror, and the fragmented images from different time and place are assembled to create a new scene. Consequently, it becomes a combination of symbolized images and the associated various scenes in memory that adjust themselves to changing circumstance and passage of time.
