My oeuvre is mostly composed of paintings and I employ subject matters of ‘human’, ‘space’, and the ‘meaning of the present and the past’. I contemplate the modern perception of the transforming value of the past that was once regarded with great honor by people in history, what are the essential values to the modern people, and how the purpose of human existence relates to such values. I witnessed independent values in the nature of modern society from the scene of the crowds standing in a row for a single ‘value’. In 2017, I had a solo exhibition under the title of ‘A Drifting Faces’. Ever since my focus shifted to expressing the uneasiness alongside the subject matter of ‘Uncertain Minds’. Negative emotions of uncertainty, insecurity, and dissatisfaction are initially aroused as intimate feelings of which spread to the surroundings to reach the society. There are untrusting people who desire for the precise moment but refuse to live up to the expectations, hopeful people wishing to take root and balance but still drifting in the unknown, and rational people with profound belief and logic but live in the fear of the loss of them. Thus we live through times of uncertainty, insecurity, dissatisfaction, and countless restless nights. In the moments of unsettlement, we grasp the understanding of self-perception as human and remain in those unsettling moments till death. The ‘uncertain minds’ pertain to human quality. As a human with imperfectness, flaws and vulnerable emotions, I am genuinely drawn to the weaknesses of merely human, and feel compassionate and intrigued to mankind. A significant aspect to be considered from my painting is the concept of ‘the human standing on the boundary of reality and unreality’. Amidst the reality with unusual events taking place, a question of ‘WHAT IS REALITY?’ is raised. The world I belong in is awfully quiet when there pervades genocide of innocent victims and people crossing the deadly sea fighting for their lives. Though we choose to neglect the surreal truth and live in the online realm while hypnotizing ourselves on its artificial reality as real. Upon falling asleep, we escape into the otherworldliness of mobile rather than a sweet dream. The world composed of the modern people oscillates between reality and virtual reality. The area of reality and virtual reality is hardly measured, and the human stand on the boundary of these worlds. The line in the painting demonstrates the artificial nature created by humans. The artificial nature is in the realm of virtuality conceived by the uneasy minds of humans. Subject matters such as an oscillation of unreality and reality, a human standing on the boundary develop into a question, ‘WHAT IS REALITY?’. I manifest the ideas on the question onto the surface of the canvas that is the artificial space
