My work illustrates the interaction between humans and nature: symbiosis. All living creatures on this planet become the subjects in my work, and among them, fish and butterflies are the most frequently evoked. Fish and butterflies can be held within our hands and embraced with warmth. The action of sharing warmth with both hands portrayed in the painting signifies the strings of life connected with each other. In my work, fish and butterflies represent the creature that lives symbiotically with humans, and hands symbolize interaction and connection. Water is also a significant element in my work. I believe that the source of life, whether for humans and fish, is water. At the finish of each painting, I use epoxy to express the flow of water. The fish in my paintings are not simply “fish”, but also creatures swimming inside human hands or in the fish tank human hands are holding. They are always in contact with humans in some way. A few years ago, I met an “animal communicator” to solve an issue I had with my dog. (To be honest, I didn't even know such a job existed.) He looked directly into the eyes of my dog, mentally communicated with him, and then solved the problem. From this experience, I was surprised to know that humans can read animals’ minds, and that we can even communicate with them. It is truly a wondrous experience to understand the language of another species that exists with us on this planet. All creatures living in this vast nature within the universe live with their own language. To recognize such different languages is both the goal of my artmaking and how I live on this planet. Through my paintings, I wish to unveil the unknown and present diversity to the audience.
