I mainly portray people, but I also like to sketch the small and delicate objects and daily matters surrounding them. All the seemingly trivial everyday moments become the subject of my work, and I enjoy displaying such fragmented moments with simple brushstrokes, as if writing a journal.
I figured out that pencil drawing on paper best expresses the subtlety and lightness of daily matters. My work starts by sorting and cutting out my daily spontaneous drawings, and then deliberately organizing them on canvas. This process enables the construction of a multi-layered screen, which is once more reconstructed by the use of mixed media.
After a certain period of making such spontaneous drawing works, I often sense a deficit in a labor-intensive process. On that occasion, I work on a little more rigorous piece that captures the fleeting moments of daily life. Incorporating the lightness or denseness of material and medium, I aim to melt precious moments and wit into the work.
